JROTC
JROTC 2024-25
Junior Reserve Officer’s Training Corps (JROTC), a program that teaches high school students the values of good citizenship while giving them an introduction of the U.S. Army. JROTC programs develop Cadet’s citizenship, character, leadership traits, and responsibility. Cadets participate in community service to help serve their community, drill and ceremonies, and traditional educational programs. They have uniform inspections. They study military history, customs and courtesies and the they take part in the physical fitness training.
The skills taught in JROTC will benefit students in their adult life regardless of what career path they pursue. The program also helps students build their confidence and self-esteem. The program prepares high school students for leadership and makes them aware of the benefits of being a good citizen.
Because the program is based on the Army’s tradition, custom and courtesy, students who participate in the program and choose to join the military will be one step ahead of their peers. “The JROTC mission is to motivate young people to be better citizens.”
LTC (Ret) Annie Gordon is the Senior Army Instructor (SAI) for Elizabethtown High School JROTC Program.
